Nordic Cleantech Open unveiled!
A new business competition has seen the light of day! Why? Because we beleive that there needs to be a strong pipeline of new cleantech ideas and that they need to be shown to the world. We also beleive that a strong dealflow pipeline will benefit not only the Nordic cleantech industry but also our members!
We have been wanting to do something to boost the early stages of cleantech development for a long time. We know that the big investment amounts are found in the expansion stage but we also know that there need to be more companies trying to make it to that expansion stage. This is our contribution to that development. We have teamed up with leading business competition actors Venture Cup and Innovit Iceland to do this and have contracted Lahti Science and Business Park to be the point of contact in Finland making it a good and suitable crew to run this initiative.

So if you are a Nordic cleantech start up, today is your lucky day, because we have put together a packed program of exposure events that are available, not only free of charge but with travel costs paid! Five teams will go to the Global final of the Cleantech Open in California, in November the top ten will all get invited to the Nordic Cleantech Showcase in early spring in London. Mika Sulkinoja of Lahti Science and Business Park generously opens the doors to the Cleantech Venture Day in Lahti to a selected few and combines that with a profiling report of the Finnish cleantech start-up scene. And of course to top it all off there will be a final gala event at the upcoming Cleantech Capital Day in Copenhagen in April.
Since one of the reasons for doing this is to inspire new cleantech entrepeneurs we will do our very best to highlight the winners and participants in different ways, one will be videos on our web and another will be trough events and publications available for download. A lot of you are already envolved and we are very greatful for that, obvious but important to say we are also very greatful to the founding partners of this initiative, who secured for us funding to run this for two full years. The list is too long but if you are interested in who is behind, check it out here.
And most important, tell all the start-ups you come across to apply!!
